Wall Street on West Peachtree: Georgia Tech Summer Enrichment Program

A Message from Barry Marchman, Ph.D

Dear Home Educators,

Do you think you would have had a better start in life if you had just known a little bit more about money and investing?  Do you think your students could benefit from a week of financial training at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business?

We are offering our popular “Wall Street on West Peachtree” again this year.   The overall goal of this program is to provide students with a portfolio of basic money management and investing tools that will equip them to make sound financial decisions and achieve long-term financial success.  The program pits student against student in a week long trading competition as they make investment decisions and try to outmaneuver their classmates.  They will learn how to trade stocks, bonds, options, futures, and ETFs.  They will how to make good personal finance decisions, and they will learn about successful long-term investing strategies.

The program will be housed at the “Ferris Goldsmith-Trading Floor” where the Georgia Tech trading classes are taught.  This facility simulates a real Wall Street trading floor environment.

WSOWP is a one-week class offered 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.  We currently have offerings every week of June 2016 and one offering starting July 11th.

The primary instructor is Dr. Barry Marchman.  Dr. Marchman has been teaching finance classes at Georgia Tech since 2007.   He and his wife Evelyn homeschool their 7 children in cooperation with Konos Academy.

We would be delighted to have your students join us this year.  The program is geared towards older high school students, but students of any age are welcome to attend.

College admissions officers love to see applications that provide evidence of academic curiosity like this program.  Also, if your student is interested in Georgia Tech, this is a great opportunity to spend some time on campus.

Please pass this information on to your students and to anyone you know who may be interested.  Registration is first come, first served
