High School Summer Opportunities

Georgia Regents University - High School Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors

This summer, Georgia Regents University Augusta is launching two academic, residential programs for current high school sophomores and juniors. These programs are the Health Sciences Summer Academy (HSSA) and the Cyber Sciences Summer Academy (CSSA).

Using experiential instruction, the HSSA allows students to explore health care environments, build skills in patient care, and work as a team to complete scientific research. To learn more, visit gru.edu/academy/healthsciences.

The CSSA is designed to introduce high school students to the academic and professional world of cybersecurity. Students will learn from experts in the field and experience, first-hand, the consequences of a cyberattack. There will also be additional “top secret” hands-on learning experiences for students. For more information, visitgru.edu/academy/cyberacademy.

The programs will function separately during the day, but have joint evening social experiences including activities to enhance skills in collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Both programs are offered over the following weeks: June 21-25 or June 28-July 2. Students will have the chance to apply for one or both and choose the week they would like to attend if they are selected during the application process.

An information flyer is attached for your convenience. Please post on bulletin boards and/or distribute to students you think would be challenged and benefited by one or both of these experiences. The online application deadline is March 30. Space is limited. As GRU anticipates a large applicant pool, be sure your students complete their applications fully and submit them by the deadline. Selected students will be notified in March. Tuition is $500.
